Town Hall Meeting Schedule

**Public Service Announcement**

The City of Truth or Consequences will be holding town hall meetings in February regarding proposed water rate increase.  Town hall meetings for the proposed rates will be held at the City Commission Chambers located at 405 W 3rd St. on the following dates and times:

February 5, 2020 @ 6pm
City Staff and Engineering Representative Alfredo Holquin from Wilson & Co. will be available to answer questions and gather information pertaining to the proposed Water Rate Increase.

February 12, 2020 @ 12pm
City Staff and RCAC Rural Development Specialist Karl Pennock will be available to answer questions and gather information pertaining to the proposed Water Rate Increase.

February 19, 2020 @ 3 pm
City Staff, RCAC Rural Development Specialist Karl Pennock and Engineering Representative Alfredo Holquin from Wilson & Co. will be available to answer questions and gather information pertaining to the proposed Water Rate Increase and the USDA Main Street District Waterline Project.

February 26, 2020 - A Public Hearing will be held during the regularly scheduled City Commission Meeting pertaining to the proposed Water Rate Increase.  Following the public hearing the Commission will consider adoption of teh proposed water rate increase.  The City Commission Meeting will begin at 9 am and the public hearing will be held prior to the consideration of adoption of Ordinance 712.

Due to increased capital and operating costs; aged and failing infrastructure, the City of Truth or Consequences is proposing an overall water rate increase to customer base charge and usage charge.  All residential and commercial customers would experience a rate increase under the proposal.  With the proposed rate increase, a customer using an average of 6,000 gallons of water each month would experience an increase of $10.19 per month.  The increase is proposed to take effect on all billing statements rendered on or after April 1, 2020 with a 3% annual increase commencing on July 1, 2021.

Copies of the proposed ordinance will be available for public review prior to the town hall meetings.  They may be reviewed at the City Clerk's Office at 505 Sims Street, Truth or Consequences, NM.  Anyone unable to attend the town hall meetings can email their questions or concerns to
